Sacred Collective

“We have established an international Muslim-led collective addressing spiritual abuse through knowledge exchange, ethical practice, and community-rooted research.”

International Working Collective on Spiritual Abuse

The Working Collective is an international, Muslim-led group of scholars, practitioners, and researchers working collaboratively to address spiritual abuse in Muslim contexts. Rooted in trust, critical care, and shared responsibility, the Collective brings together diverse expertise across disciplines, geographies, and lived experience.

What We Aim to Do

We collaborate across regions and roles to:

  1. Facilitate critical knowledge exchange, grounded in Islamic and decolonial epistemologies

  2. Develop and share contextually rooted good practice for prevention, response, and care

  3. Strengthen research capacity across Muslim communities, institutions, and academic spaces

Our approach is relational, reflective, and action-oriented, focused not only on understanding harm, but also on building pathways for healing, safety, and justice.

Together, we hold space for difficult conversations, share tools and insights, and support one another in addressing harm with integrity and sincerity.
